Thoughts about Pain

Pain is the body’s reaction to various bodily disruptions. Pain warns of

danger, forces us to take action—to move closer or farther, to find the cause of

the pain, to draw conclusions and to move on to new states.

Pain is a force that affects our ego.

There is pain because I feel bad, because others feel bad, or because others feel

good.

Pain “pushes” from behind and forces us to evolve.

Pain that stems from feeling empty pulls us forward to fulfillment.

All feelings stem from conflict, contact, and pressure—from pain.

Pleasure can be felt only after feeling pain, suffering or anticipation.

We overcome pain only when we rise above the ego. All of a sudden, we

realize that we can exist without lack, but with complete fulfillment, which is

not based on pain. It is fulfillment

A Field of Love

The Creator is a spiritual field of love and bestowal.

We move within in it by shifting our desires, while constantly being at the

point of resemblance to this field.

Initially, we are opposite from the field; we are in its outermost circle, called “This

World.”

To the extent of our level of desire to draw nearer to the center, to the quality of the

Creator of love and bestowal, we evoke the influence of this field upon us, and it

shifts our position.

Accordingly, it is clear that we cannot ask the Creator to change His attitude toward

us or hope for any special favors on His part. It is as pointless as asking gravity not

to affect our bodies.

The Creator is a force that is inconsiderate of our words, but considers instead our

innermost desires.

The Creator—Come and See

Various religions depict the Creator as something outside of us. But Kabbalah

explains that it is forbidden to imagine the Creator as an image of any kind,

that the Creator is a quality that exists within each of us.

The Creator is the quality of love and bestowal. The meaning of the word

“Creator” (Borre in Hebrew) is “Come and See” (Bo u Re’e), meaning come and

discover this quality within you.

There is no external, foreign element for whom we work! We work on

correcting ourselves, on attaining the qualities of love and giving, the Creator.

Around two thousand years ago, we lost the feeling of the Creator—we were

exiled and lost the true picture of the world. We began to think that the

Creator was someone who existed separately from us, rather than a quality

that appeared within us.

Instead of depicting the Creator as the primary and foremost quality of

Creation, which clothes within us, we began to think of Him as a separate and

foreign entity.

The Tree of Life

The Tree of Life

Behold, that before the emanations were emanated and the creatures were

created,

The upper simple light had filled the whole existence.

And there was no vacancy, such as an empty atmosphere, a hollow, or a

pit,

But all was filled with simple, boundless light.

And there was no such part as head, or tail,

But everything was simple, smooth light, balanced evenly and equally,

And it was called the Endless Light.

And when upon His simple will, came the desire to create the world and

emanate the emanations,

To bring to light the perfection of His deeds, His names, His appellations,

Which was the cause of the creation of the worlds,

He then restricted Himself, in the middle,

Precisely in the center,

He restricted the light.

And the light drew far off to the sides around that middle point.

And there remained an empty space, a vacuum

Circling the middle point.

And the restriction had been uniform

Around the empty point,

So that the space

Was evenly circled around it.

There, after the restriction,

Having formed a vacuum and a space

Precisely in the middle of the endless light,

A place was formed,

Where the emanated and the created might reside.

Then from Endless Light a single line hung down,

Lowered down into that space.

And through that line, He emanated, formed,

Created all the worlds.

Before these four worlds came to be

There was one infinite, one name, in wondrous, hidden unity,

That even for the closest of the angles

There is no attainment in the endless,

As there is no mind that can perceive it,

For He has no place, no boundary, no name.

How can we know God, since what is limited cannot know what is limitless?

"How can we know God, since what is limited cannot know what is
limitless? Not through our five senses, certainly. We will know
God when we enter his immensity, when we merge with him, when we
become part of him. As long as a drop of water is separate from
the ocean, it cannot know it, but when it returns to the ocean it
can no longer be made separate; it has become the ocean, and it
knows the ocean.
So, as long as human beings remain like separate drops, they
cannot understand the immensity and infinity of God. They have to
merge, fuse with him and become lost in him. This is how they
come to know him, because they become him, they are him. But
until then they will remain outside of God, and they will
continue to wonder about his existence."

So many people have a distorted vision of the universe

"So many people have a distorted vision of the universe, because
they look at it through the lens of a single religion! But what,
then, is the point of their belonging to a religion, if it is
going to obscure both the splendour of what God has created and
the possibility of returning to him?
The Church has warped people's minds to such an extent that,
now, they can no longer be made to appreciate the wonders of
creation. What they themselves have created - holy images,
relics, cathedrals, pilgrimages - yes, these they can appreciate,
but when it comes to what God created they are not interested. Of
course, that is not how they put it, but in practice it is how
they behave. Instead of saying, 'Respect life, my children, for
everything is sacred; there are talismans all around you, placed
there by God: give him thanks for the light of the sun and the
stars, for air, for water, for everything nature gives us,' all
that matters to the Church are its shops, with their ceremonial
objects, rosaries and medallions; the rest of the universe does
not count. And that is how the rituals instituted by the Churches
have come to obscure true religion."

Meditation and prayer are not commonplace activities

"Meditation and prayer are not commonplace activities; they ought
to make you experience sensations of a particular kind. If
meditation and prayer do not make you feel some warmth, light,
strength, joy or wonder, you should find out why.
Occasionally, when you strike a match, it fails to light,
because either it or the box is damp. And if a cigarette lighter
will not light, it is because there is no oil in it or the flint
is worn. In spiritual practice, as on the material plane, there
is always a reason for failure, and you should find out what it
is. The mind must never be damp, and the heart must never be dry.
The heart should be damp and warm, and the mind should be dry and
cold. A dried out heart becomes selfish, and if it is cold it
lacks love. If you warm the mind, it goes to sleep, and if you
make it too moist it rots. These simple, clear images should help
you solve the difficulties in your inner life."

Many people are approaching life from the flawed premise ...

Many people are approaching life from the flawed premise that if they work hard and struggle long and pay a big enough price, they will then be rewarded with financial well-being. And since they do not realize that in their struggle they are denying themselves alignment with the abundance they seek, when the abundance does not come, they attribute it to luck or favoritism that is being directed away from them and toward another.

But there is no luck or favoritism. There is only allowing or resisting, letting in or keeping out the abundance that you deserve.

Someone will say, 'I love'...

"Someone will say, 'I love'... Yes, they love, of course, but do
they ask themselves about the nature of their love? Do they give
a thought to the fact that there are two kinds of love: the
self-serving kind and the disinterested kind? Disinterested love
does not expect anything from others, it does not fret, it does
not cling to them, and it does not trouble them. It is a gushing
spring, which gives ceaselessly without being concerned about who
will come to draw from it. It is pleased to share its water
freely, whereas self-seeking love does the opposite, as it acts
on others as a constraint, seeking only to take and bringing with
it impatience, disappointment, anger, jealousy and anxiety.
Disinterested love also avoids arguments, doubts and mistrust
and establishes joy, beauty and hope. It is a new life working
its way through, making people increasingly free, strong and
happy. It is the path of resurrection. So now, ask yourself:
which kind of love is yours? "

Exploiting the Darkness

One who returns from the darkness must bring of it with him and convert it to light. He must exploit his experience to surge higher and higher with greater strength.

Therefore, the one who returns from a distance is greater than the one who was always close.

What matters is not so much where you stand, but with what force you are moving in which direction.

Light and thought should always come first

"Light and thought should always come first and direct everything

in all situations. Feelings, emotions and desires must come

second. Suppose you have put feeling and desire in first place,

before thought: you are going to give way to your impulses, to

your preferences, without reasoning or reflecting. Well, that

will devalue what you are doing, and you may even fail.

That does not mean you should suppress feelings or desires; no,

you would be depriving yourself of the immense riches that lie in

matter, which thought must work on. But try to put thought first,

so that you will always find the right way ahead, the right

Return is the ultimate act of self-expression.

Nobody returns because he is commanded to do so. The ability to return comes from you alone.

And that itself the evidence that you were never truly torn away: The outer garments of the soul may have been severed, but the core remained at every moment in intimate union with its Source. And from there came the message to return.

Most people are neither bad nor ill-intentioned

"Most people are neither bad nor ill-intentioned; many even
sincerely wish to be useful to others. But good feelings and good
intentions are not enough when it comes to really doing good.
Those who want to help others must begin by ridding themselves of
all the elements that conflict with the good they wish to
achieve.
In fact, good and evil are so intimately entangled in each
person that dark forces are often able to take advantage of their
good will. And while people are convinced they are being useful,
all sorts of elements contrary to the good get mixed up in what
they do, and those who should have benefited from their actions
end up as mere victims of them. This is why, every hour of every
day, you must try to work patiently at reducing those inner
states that can serve as magnets for negative forces. At the same
time, you must also work at intensifying those states that
attract heavenly currents to you. Once you have learned to stop
opening the door to dark forces, you will be truly capable of
helping others."

...To say you don't know isn't always easy.

Mike McConnell, former Director of National Intelligence, described the principles of how to arrive at good intelligence 17 years ago while serving under Colin Powell.“I have a rule,” General Powell told him. “As an intelligence officer, your responsibility is to tell me what you know; tell me what you don’t know; then you’re allowed to tell me what you think. But always keep those three things separate. ”This was a profound concept to me. Most of us take what we think and turn it into what we know.When we give out information, it’s important to separate it into what we know, what we don’t know, and what we think. Sometimes it’s hard to say what we don’t know. Our egos don’t like us to be in the dark. It takes a very smart, very responsible person to distinguish between these three areas.We need to know our strengths, weaknesses, and what we think we can do. One reason for botched communication is we don’t separate between these three things. You’ve got to keep them separate from the beginning. Then you’ll be a more valuable leader, follower, and friend. No matter who is working with you, under you, or above you - as long as you have someone who needs to report to you and/or you to them - be sure to share what’s known, what’s unknown, and what’s perceived. It will help alleviate expectations and allow the flow of communication to be clearer.Ideas don’t make us experts. Awareness does. The work may seem difficult, but the point is simple. To say you don’t know isn’t always easy. But it can solve the big problems that happen when people make what they think into what they know.

The Highest Happiness

True happiness is the highest form of self-sacrifice. There, in that state, there is no sense of self —not even awareness that you are happy. True happiness is somewhere beyond "knowing". Beyond self.

"Do you have to change your vibration on a particular subject in order to let it in?" No, you don't. You could pet your pet and let it in. You could sit with your feet dangling in the bay, and let it in. If it is a subject that you often think of in an attitude of resistance, it is really worthwhile reaching for some thoughts that feel better. You could launch an intention and never think about it again, and the Universe would yield it to you. You don't have to clean up your vibration relative to anything, if you can just not think about it any more. That's why we teach meditation. It's easier to teach you to have no thought than to have pure positive thought. When you quiet your mind you stop thought; when you stop thought you stop resistance; when you stop resistance--then you are in a state of allowing.

"The tree is found in most spiritual traditions as a symbol for

the universe. All creatures have a role to play on this tree,

anywhere from the roots to the fruits, including the trunk, the

branches, the leaves and the flowers. Everything that exists, all

activities, all realms find their place on the tree of life.

At different times of the year, the leaves, flowers and fruits

fall from the tree; they decompose and become humus, which is

gradually absorbed by the roots. It is the same with beings. When

human beings die, they return to the primeval earth, but soon

they reappear in some part of the tree. Nothing is lost, beings

are forever disappearing and reappearing on the cosmic tree of

life. "

Completion

At a certain point, each of us, through all our many journeys through life, will have found and redeemed all the Divine sparks in our share of the world. Then the darkness that holds such mastery, such cruelty, such irrational evil that it cannot be elevated—all this will simply vanish from its place, like a puff of steam in the midday air.

All that we salvaged and used for good, on the other hand, will shine with a tremendous light beyond even the light of the Godly realm. The world will have arrived.

Desire summons Life Force. If we must continue to be alive, we must continue to have new desire. You are not willing to let yourself outrageously want because when you outrageously want something that you haven't found a way of getting, it is too uncomfortable, and the risk feels too great.
